Part of being a small business owner means that you have to take on a lot of roles. I’ve been playing web developer the past few days (among other things) and have been developing my fluency in WordPress and jQuery (and specifically jQuery UI). I’m updating the content all around talismaninsights.com to be more interactive and fun to use.
Personally, I love the challenge of learning a new skill. You probably noticed this site is powered by WordPress. There is a great little plugin for WordPress called “jQueryUI Widgets.” I heartily recommend it. You still have to know how to code your widget and the tagging for your content but it allows you to plug in all sorts of wonderful functionality to your site. Best of all, the plugin includes the jQuery UI Touch add-on. In case anyone doesn’t know, vanilla jQuery doesn’t work on mobile devices but fortunately there is a workaround.
Now, time to create more content!
